We are pleased to announce the release of the new emission model within the eLandfill platform.
As environmental regulations become increasingly focused on climate impacts and carbon reporting, landfill operators need reliable tools to quantify and monitor greenhouse gas emissions. The new GHG Module has been developed to transform waste disposal data into accurate emission estimates through recognized scientific methodologies.
The module automatically processes waste input data and calculates landfill greenhouse gas emissions using established models such as the IPCC First-Order Decay (FOD) model. Users can evaluate methane generation, atmospheric emissions, landfill gas recovery performance, and carbon dioxide equivalent (CO₂e) emissions throughout the lifetime of a facility. This emission model supports assessing long-term environmental impact across operations.
Designed with flexibility in mind, the GHG Module is not limited to a single methodology. Additional national or regional emission models can be integrated to meet specific regulatory requirements and project objectives. This allows landfill operators, consultants, and environmental authorities to adapt the platform to their local frameworks while maintaining a consistent and traceable calculation process.
Beyond compliance reporting, the module supports long-term planning and sustainability initiatives. By forecasting future emissions and assessing different landfill gas management scenarios, users can better understand the environmental performance of their sites and identify opportunities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The GHG Module is fully integrated into the eLandfill ecosystem, enabling organizations to leverage their existing operational and waste data without the need for external spreadsheets or manual calculations. Results are presented through intuitive dashboards and exportable reports, providing a clear overview of historical emissions, current performance, and future projections.
With this new release, eLandfill continues its mission to provide innovative digital solutions for landfill management, helping operators improve data quality, support regulatory compliance, and contribute to global climate objectives.
